Antique WUCOS 3 3/8" German Double Steel automatic knife made in Germany in the early 20th century. WUCOS stands for Windhoefel Und CO Solingen. I believe that these knives were influenced by, and possibly made by George Schrade in Germany between 1910 and 1915. The design is very similar to the one patented by George Schrade in the US in 1892, with the addition of sliding safeties. George traveled to Germany and spent a few years there around 1910.

The knife measures 3 3/8" closed and a hair over 7 inches with both blades open and it has nickel silver liners, buttons & safeties. It is a Spear/pen blade combination with both blades 99% full, or better with nearly all of the original crocus polish finish with some light spotting & peppering. The only marking is on the tang of the large blade that reads WUCOS with an image of a hand holding what looks like a bag of money. The scales are hollow steel with spotting and discoloring from age in very good condition. The knife works well with both blade tips below the liners closed, both open well and both lock open with average movement. The large blade is nearly tight and the small blade has about 1/8" up and down and a bit of side to side at the tip. Safeties have the letters "Z" for on and "O" for off (open). Both safeties work. EX condition.
