Vintage WADE & BUTCHER Tortoise Celluloid medium double switchblade knife made under contract by Schrade Cutlery Co of Walden NY in the early 1900s. The knife measures 3 3/8 inches closed and 6 7/8" open with brass liners and nickel silver buttons and safeties. The blades are both 96% full or better with patina, light scratches and spotting. Main blade is stamped WADE & BUTCHER over an Arrow symbol and backside stamped FORGED IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND The small blade is stamped US PATS over FEB 13, 06 FEB 26, 07 and SEPT 13, 10 and the reverse is stamped FORGED IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. The Tortoise celluloid scales are in very good condition with no cracks, or chips. The knife works well with both blade tips slightly above the liners closed, open fully and lock nicely with slight up and down at the tip of the large blade. Small blade has some kickback. It appears that the knife has had some repair work done. Does not rattle if shaken with blades open. Both safeties work. Good condition.
