Antique UNION CUT CO OLEAN NY USA Teardrop Lever automatic knife nice with stag scales (handles). There's a good chance that this knife has been altered, though it contains all old original parts from Union Cut Co and Henckels, a German company. The blade is an original Union Cut Co blade that has seen some use and sharpening, but still 95% full with patina. We believe that the frame and lever are from a Henckels lever knife made in Germany around the same time a the Union knife, or maybe a bit later and the lever is stamped with the number 35 on the underside. There has been speculation that Henckels might have made knives for Union and we've talked to people who repair old knives and were told that the parts are interchangeable between the knives. There is a chance that this knife is all original, but more likely it is the product of two old lever knives put together to make one good knife. The value on a knife like this depends upon collector interest. We're selling it as a "likely altered/repaired" knife that is Very Interesting and priced accordingly. If it were a complete, all original Union, or Henckels the values would be similar and in the $1200-1600 range in ex condition. This knife is in VG condition and works great! Blade seats deep, good snap and excellent lockup.
