Vintage STAINLESS STEEL JAPAN VALOR 23cm Japanese False button lockback manual knife made in Japan in the 1960s, or 70s after switchblades stopped being imported in the US and other countries. These are sometimes called False buttons, or Fake switchblades and can be found in various configurations made in Japan and Italy after 1958. This knife measures 22.5cm (8 7/8 inches) open and 4 15/16 inches closed with brass liners & pins and nickel silver bolsters and spring loaded button. The bayonet style blade is 99% full, or better with original finish and nail nick and the ricasso is stamped STAINLESS STEEL JAPAN on the front and VALOR #587M on the backside. The genuine horn scales (handles) are beautiful translucent yellow with brown streaks. The knife works well. You dot NOT have to press the button to open the knife, locks open tight with square locking tab. This is one of the cooler False button knives I've seen from Japan. EX+ condition
