SHAPLEIGH HDW CO Large Double Ivory American Legion vintage automatic knife

Antique SHAPLEIGH H.D.W. CO D-E large 3 3/4" vintage double Ivory celluloid with full bolsters made by the Schrade Cutlery Co of Walden, NY under contract for Shapleigh Hardware Co. The knife measures 3 3/4" closed and 7 9/16" open with brass liners and nickel silver full bolsters, buttons and safeties. Clip/pen blade combo with both blades having loss from sharpening and both 92% full, or better with light scratches and a few scattered pit spots. Clip blade stamped SHAPLEIGH H.D.W. CO D-E and the pen blade stamped US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 & JUNE 6, 16. The Ivory Celluloid scales are in very good condition with very nice custom artwork of the American Legion symbol that says American Legion around the circle. Looks to be a very old customization. The knife works well with both large blade tip below liners closed and pen blade tip just above the liners closed, good snap and  good lockup open with a little up and down at both tips within average for used knife. Both Safeties work. VG condition.
