SHAPLEIGH HDW CO Hunter's Pride Bone Vintage automatic knife
SHAPLEIGH HDW CO Hunter's Pride Bone Vintage automatic knife made under contract by Schrade Cut Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. It measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 5/8 inches open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters, guards, button and safety. The blade is about 96% full and about 1/8 inch short and shiny with some light scratches and the tang is stamped SHAPLEIGH HDW CO around a diamond with the letters DE inside which stands for Diamond Edge (trademark used by Shapleigh). Backside of the tang is marked US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6, 16. The jigged bone scales are in excellent condition. The knife works well with blade tip below liners closed, good snap and average lockup with about 1/8" up and down and a bit of side to side at the tip. Does rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. EX- condition.
