Vintage SHAPLEIGH HDW CO DE A11 Large Hunter Bone automatic knife made under contract by Schrade Cutlery Co of Walden, NY sometime around 1907-1910. It measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 5/8 inches open with steel liners and bolsters and nickel silver button and safety. The clip blade is about 97% full and mostly shiny with light scratches, 1/8 inch short and is stamped SHAPLEIGH HDW CO around a diamond shape with letters DE inside on the tang. (the DE stands for Diamond Edge, trademark used on their cutlery). The picked bone scales (handles) are in excellent condition and held on with brass pins. The knife works well with blade tip deep in the well closed, opens fully and locks up with about 1/4" up and down and 1/8" side to side at the tip and it does rattle if shaken when open. Safety works. VG+ condition.
