Schrade Walden vintage MC1 Orange military paratrooper switchblade

Schrade Walden vintage MC1 Orange military paratrooper switchblade knife. This knife was made for the US government under contract by Schrade Walden into the 1960s. These knives also saw use by NASA and were carried into space with astronauts as well as used by other government agencies. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 3/8 inches with clip blade open and it has steel liners, nickel silver plated brass button and nickel silver safety. The clip blade is opened automatically by pressing the button and the hook blade opens manually. Typically paratroopers deployed with the hook blade in the open position for quick emergency use. The blade is 98% full or better with some light scratches and is marked Schrade Walden NY USA STAINLESS on the tang. The hook blade is excellent condition and works perfectly. The orange jigged scales are in great condition with just a little shrinkage and this is the later 4 pin version. The knife works great with the clip blade tip below liners when closed, good snap and very good lockup when open with just a bit of up and down movement at the tip. Does rattle if shaken with blade open as most of these do. Safety works. VG+ condition.
