Schrade Walden vintage MC1 Orange military paratrooper switchblade knife made for the US government under contract by Schrade Walden into the 1960s. These knives also saw use by NASA and were carried into space with astronauts as well as being used by other government agencies. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/16 inches open with clip blade open and it has steel liners with nickel silver button & safety. The clip blade is opened automatically by pressing the button and the hook blade opens manually. Typically paratroopers deployed with the hook blade in the open position for quick emergency use. The clip blade is marked Schrade Walden NY USA STAINLESS and is 98% full with scratches and a little staining from sharpening/use. The hook blade is good condition and works perfectly. The orange jigged scales are in good condition with some shrinkage and are a little dirty and slightly faded. This is the later 4 pin version and it's missing the lanyard ring, likely broken, or taken off. The knife works great with the clip blade tip well below liners closed, good snap and good lockup when open with about 1/8" movement at the tip. Does rattle if shaken with blade open as do most of these knives that have been used over the years. Safety works. VG condition.
