Schrade Walden vintage MC1 Orange military paratrooper switchblade

Vintage Schrade Walden MC1 Orange military paratrooper switchblade knife made for the US government under contract by Schrade Walden into the 1960s. These knives were used by paratroopers and saw use by NASA and were carried into space with astronauts as well as being used by other government agencies. The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 3/8 inches with clip blade open and it has steel liners and nickel silver button & safety with steel lanyard ring. The clip blade is opened automatically by pressing the button and the hook blade opens manually. Typically paratroopers deployed with the hook blade in the open position for quick emergency use. The clip blade is marked Schrade Walden NY USA STAINLESS and is 100% full with original factory finish and some scratches. The hook blade is excellent condition and works perfectly. The bright orange synthetic jigged scales are in great condition with just a little shrinkage and this is the later 4 pin version. The knife works great with the clip blade tip below liners when closed, good snap and excellent lockup when open. Safety works. EX+ condition.
