I was fortunate to find this rare civilian version of the Schrade M2 military paratrooper knives with strong blade etch! These were inspired by public interest in War related items after the end of WWII. Schrade Walden made some of these Paratrooper etched knives in two sizes right around 1950. I had only seen them listed in a catalog from around 1950 until a few years ago when I managed to find my first one. I don't think they made a lot of them and this one is in nearly new condition. It came from an east coast collection that was purchased recently and I was very fortunate to find it. The knife measures 4 1/4" closed and 7.25 inches open with steel liners, bolsters and lanyard ring (slightly larger than the military version) and nickel silver button and safety. The blade is 100% full with original factory finish and etch. The black jigged scales are held on with brass pins and are in good condition with two hairline cracks by pins. The knife works well with blade tip seating deep, strong snap and locks open with about 3/16" up and down and a little side to side at the tip. Safety does not work. EX+ condition.
