Schrade Walden Craftsman 9540 Red folding guard vintage 1950s automatic knife made for Sears and featured in at least the 1951 Sears summer catalog. Most of these were originally etched "CRAFTSMAN" over the model number "9540", but it was an acid etch which were fragile and usually got rubbed off with some use. The knife measures 4 1/4 inches closed and 7 5/16" open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, guards, button & safety. The clip blade is 100% full and shiny and the tang is stamped SCHRADE WALDEN, NY. The handles (scales) are deep red synthetic material and in excellent condition. The knife functions well with blade tip below the liners closed, good snap and very good lockup with less than 1/16" movement at the tip. No rattle if shaken with blade open except the guards. EX+ condition.
