Schrade Cut Co Single Jack Butter & Molasses cell switchblade
Schrade Cut Co Single Jack Butter & Molasses cell switchblade
This knife was made by the Schrade Cutlery Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This knife was designated the 1404K with Brown lined cream (butter & molasses) celluloid scales. It has one blade that is activated by pressing the button. The knife measures 3 3/8" closed and approx 5 5/8" open. The knife has seen light use over the years and the blade is approx 90% full and shiny with some scratches and is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY and three patent dates, 09,10 & 16 on the back of the tang.
The knife works well with tip below liners closed, opens fully when button is pressed and locks open well. The scales are pretty and in good condition with one hairline crack by the button and some handling marks. Great old knife in good working condition. These single blade Schrades are much less common than the doubles so a little more valuable.
