Vintage SCHRADE CUT CO M2 Bone handled WWII Paratrooper Military issue switchblade knife was made in Walden NY in the 1940s by the Schrade Cutlery Co under contract with the US Government and issued to soldiers during the war. It measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/16" open with steel liners, bolsters and lanyard ring (staple) and nickel silver button and safety cap. The clip blade is 98% full or better with heavy patina light scratches and some spotting. The tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY on the front and US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 & JUNE 6, 16 on the reverse. The jigged bone scales are very nice and the back scale is a little lighter colored than the front scale. The knife works well with the blade tip centered and below liners closed, good snap and very good lockup open with less than 1/16" up and down at the tip. Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. EX condition.
