Vintage SCHRADE CUT CO M2 Bone handled WWII Paratrooper Military issue switchblade knife. This knife was made in Walden NY in the 1940s by the Schrade Cutlery Co under contract with the US Government and issued to soldiers during the war. It measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/16" open with steel liners, bolsters and lanyard ring (staple) and nickel silver button and safety cap. The clip blade is 97% full or better and and shiny with light scratches and a little light spotting. The tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY on the front tang and US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 & JUNE 6, 16 on the reverse. The jigged bone scales are very nice and lighter colored than most with one decent repair at the top of the rear scale where a piece of bone broke out at one time. Not very noticeable. The knife works well with the blade tip just below liners closed, good snap and good lockup open with about 1/16" up and down at the tip. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open. Lanyard ring is a little bent up from use. Safety does not work properly. EX- condition.
