Schrade Cut Co Hunting Knife Saber grind blade bone switchblade
Schrade Cut Co Hunting Knife Saber grind blade bone switchblade
Vintage Schrade Cut Co large hunter switchblade knife with saber grind blade made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" close and 8 5/8" open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters, button, safety cap and spun pins. The blade is 96% full with lots of scratches and some spotting under a layer of patina and is stamped Schrade Cut Co over Walden, NY. The backside has three patent dates 09, 10 and 16. The blade was likely originally etched "SCHRADE HUNTING KNIFE", but the etches were fragile and easily rubbed off. The jigged bone scales are in good condition with a large black area on the front scale that is factory, not a repair. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep, strong snap and fair lockup with about 1/16" up and down and a little side to side at the tip. Rattles if shaken when open. Safety does not work. G+ condition.
