Early Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade with jigged bone scales (handles). This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and a hair over 8 5/8" open with steel liners & bolsters and nickel silver button & safety cap. It was designated the model 1543 3/4 and this early version was made in Walden, NY sometime around 1916. The blade is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front and three patents on the rear of US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6,16. The blade is 98% full or better and shiny with some light scratches and scattered peppering. The picked bone scales are held on with brass pins and are in very good condition with a nice repair between the button and top bolster and one tiny hairline crack by the button. The knife works great with the blade tip seating deep and centered in the well when closed, strong snap and tight lockup with barely any movement at the tip. Safety works. EX- condition.
