Antique Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade with jigged bone scales (handles). This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and 8 5/8" open with steel liners & bolsters and nickel silver button & safety cap. It was designated the model 1543 3/4 and this early version was made in Walden, NY sometime between 1910 and 1916. The clip blade is 95% full, or better with light scratches and scattered light pitting and the tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front and US PATS FEB 13, 06 FEB 26, 07 & SEPT 13,10 on the backside. The jigged bone scales are held on with brass pins and are gorgeous and in near perfect condition. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, opens fully and good lockup with about 1/8" up and down at the tip and does rattle slightly if shaken with blade open. Safety works. EX condition.
