Vintage Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade knife pattern 1543 3/4 with jigged bone scales (handles) made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and 8 3/4" open with steel liners & bolsters and nickel silver button & safety cap. The clip blade is 99% full, or better with patina & some spotting and the tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front and the reverse is stamped US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6,16. The jigged bone scales are held on with brass pins and are in very good condition with one tiny hairline crack by a pin on the back scale. The knife works great with the blade tip seating deep and centered in the well when closed, strong snap and very good lockup with about 1/16" movement each way at the tip. It does rattle a bit if shaken with blade open as most do. Safety works. EX condition.
