Early Schrade Cut Co large Hunter switchblade with jigged bone scales (handles) made in Walden, NY between 1907 and 1916. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade and was designated pattern #1543 3/4 and measures 4 7/8" closed and 8 11/16" open with steel liners & bolsters and nickel silver button & safety cap. The blade is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN, NY on the front of the tang and the reverse is stamped US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6,16. The blade is 97% full or better with some light scratches, patina and spotting. The picked bone scales are held on with brass pins and are in very good condition with one tiny hairline crack by a pin on the back scale. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep, strong snap and good lockup with about 1/16" up and down at the tip. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open. Safety works. VG+ condition.
