Schrade Cut Co 740SSD Medium double Sterling Silver Patriot Evening News automatic knife

Schrade Cut Co 740SSD medium double switchblade with Sterling Silver scales advertiser knife made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This is the medium size double measuring 3 3/8" closed and 7 1/8" with both blades open with nickel silver liners, buttons and safeties. The blades are 100% full and shiny with original finish. Main spear blade has a strong etch that reads: The Patriot & The Evening News Harrisburg, PA on the face and the tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY. The small blade is stamped US PATS Dec 21, 09, Sept 13, 10 and June 6, 16. The Sterling silver scales are in very nice condition and both are stamped STERLING near the safeties. The knife works well with blade blade tips below the liners closed, both open fully (small blade has kickback) and both lock open nicely with just a bit of up and down movement at the tips when open. No rattle if shaken with blades open. Nice example of a vintage American gentleman's silver switchblade advertiser knife. Both safeties work. EX+ condition.
