Schrade Cut Co 1614 3/4 Hunter Saber grind Black stagged automatic knife made in Walden, NY sometime between 1930 and 1946. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" closed and 8 5/8 inches open with steel liners, bolsters button& pins and nickel silver safety. The saber grind clip blade is 95% full or better with patina, light scratches from sharpening/use and scattered spotting and the tang is stamped Schrade Cut Co Walden, NY. The backside of the tang is stamped US PATS DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6, 16 with wear. The scales (handles) are black jigged synthetic, marketed by Schrade as "Stagged" covers and are in very good condition with no cracks or chips, but safety slot is slightly longer than normal. The knife works well with blade tip just below the liners closed, good snap and good lockup with about 1/8" movement each way at the tip. Does rattle if shaken with blade open as most do. Safety works. VG- condition.
