Schrade Cut Co #1613 3/4 large hunter switchblade with saber grind blade made in Walden, NY sometime between 1916 and 1946. This is the largest switchblade knife made by Schrade measuring 4 7/8" close and 8 3/4 inches open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters, button, safety cap and spun pins. The Saber grind clip blade is 98% full with heavy patina and light spotting and the tang is stamped Schrade Cut Co Walden, NY. The backside has three patent dates DEC 21, 09, SEPT 13, 10 and JUNE 6, 16. The blade was likely originally etched "SCHRADE HUNTING KNIFE", but the etches were fragile and easily rubbed off. The dyed peach seed jigged bone scales are in excellent condition with no cracks and one small piece missing on the back scale near the bolster. The knife works well with the blade tip centered and below the liners closed, strong snap and good lockup with about 1/16" up and down at the tip. Rattles if shaken with blade open as most of these do that have been used over the years. Safety works. VG+ condition.
