Vintage Schrade Cut Co Scout single blade bone handled switchblade knife made in Walden, NY between 1916 and 1946 and designated pattern #1553 3/4. This is the smaller of the 2 large frame single blade switchblades made by Schrade. This model is often referred to as "the Scout" and the larger one is called "the Hunter". The knife measures 4.25 inches closed and 7 5/16 inches open and it has steel liners and bolsters & nickel silver button and safety with spun brass pins. The clip blade is 99% full or better and shiny with a few tiny pepper spots and the tang is stamped SCHRADE CUT CO WALDEN NY on the front and backside stamped US PATS DEC 21 09, SEPT 13 10, JUNE 6, 1916. The jigged bone scales (handles) are in excellent condition with no cracks. The knife works great with the blade tip deep & centered closed, strong snap and very good lockup with about 1/16" up and down at the tip. Safety works. EX condition.
