RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage hidden folding guard switchblade knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1960s and 70s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures just over 24cm (9 5/8 inches) open with steel liners and guards and aluminum folding guards that fold inside the knife when closed. The bayonet style blade is full and has heavy patina, scratches, some light pitting and a little active rust near the tip that could easily be cleaned off. The scales are thick clear acrylic with a thin layer of black with lots of light scratches and handling marks. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, smooth snap and fair lockup when open. The tip does move over .5 inches if pushed, but springs right back to full open. It is button open, button close. Very cool vintage Russian RPK hidden guards switchblade.
