RPK 24cm Russian Prison Knife SHARK Swivel bolster Black & silver automatic knife

Vintage RPK 24cm Russian Prison Knife SHARK engraved Swivel bolster Black & silver automatic knife. It is believed that these knives were made by inmates of prisons in Russia (USSR) between 1950s and 1970s to generate income for the prisons and to be used as gifts/bribes by guards and prison personnel. This knife measures 23.7cm (9 3/8 inches) open and 5 1/8 inches closed with polished aluminum liners, bolsters & button. The straight back hollow ground blade is 90% full, or better with original finish with the word Shark engraved on the face of the blade. The scales (handles) are black synthetic material held on with copper pins and in excellent condition. To close the knife you swivel the bolster on the backside to release. The knife works well with blade tip centered and below the liners closed, good snap and Tight lockup open. EX- condition.
