RPK 23cm Russian Prison Knife Vintage Gunstock Swing Guard lockback switchblade

RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage gunstock swing guard switchblade knife. It is believed that these knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1950s through the 1970s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons and given by prison personnel as bribes and gifts. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 22.7cm (9 1/16 inches) open and 4 5/8 inches closed with steel liners, guards, button & safety and aluminum bolsters. The hollow ground straight back blade appears to be 98% full or better with original finish with no markings and a few light scratches. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, smooth strong snap and tight lockup when open. It is button open backspring release to close. Very cool vintage Russian RPK gunstock swing guard switchblade. Safety works, but probably not "pocket safe". VG+ condition.
