Vintage RPK (Russian Prison Knife) switchblade. These were made by inmates to be sold to the public to raise money for the prisons in the 1970s and 80s, I believe. I'm still researching it. These knives are all one-of-a-kind pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art and they are a lot of fun to collect and make wonderful wall display pieces. They can be found in all shapes and sizes and so far I haven't found any two exactly alike. It measures 21.5cm (8.5 inches) open with steel liners. The blade appears to be mostly full and shiny with lots of light scratches and some grinder marks from poor sharpening that could easily be sanded off. The scales (handles) are caramel colored synthetic held on with screws and have some cracks. The knife works great with the blade tip seating well closed, good snap and good lockup with a little movement. Does not rattle if shaken when open. Sliding button to open and closes. Cool old Russian RPK automatic knife. VG condition.
