RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage switchblade knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1960s and 70s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 22cm (8.75 inches) open with steel bolsters and guards. The straight back carbon steel blade appears to be mostly full with some light engraving and lots of scratches. The scales are blue transparent synthetic and are in good condition and held on with screws. You can see the coilspring inside if you hold it up to the light. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, smooth snap and good lockup when open with a little movement each way at the tip. It is button open, button close. Good condition and shows a lot of use.
