This is another vintage RPK (Russian Prison Knife) from Russia. These were made by inmates to be sold to the public to raise money for the prisons in the 1970s and 80s, I believe. I'm still researching it. These knives are all one-of-a-kind pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art and they are a lot of fun to collect and make wonderful wall display pieces. They can be found in all shapes and sizes and so far I haven't found any two exactly alike. This one reminds me of a funny shoe. It measures just under 21cm (8 1/8 inches) open with steel liners. The blade is mostly full and shiny. The scales (handles) are wood and in really nice condition with a square release button with a crack. The knife works great with the blade tip seating deep closed, strong snap and good lockup with about 1/8" up and down at the tip that springs back when you let go. Button open Button to close.
