RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage Gunstock Swing Guard switchblade knife. It is believed that these knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1950s through the 1970s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons and given by prison personnel as bribes and gifts. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures 18.5cm (7.25 inches) open with a steel frame, bolsters and swing guards. The straightback blade with blood grooves is mostly full and shiny with no markings. The gunstock shaped scales are a Copper foil covered with clear acrylic and are in nice condition and very attractive. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well when closed, smooth strong snap and good lockup when open. The blade is activated by pressing the rectangular button and is closed with a backspring release. Very cool vintage Russian RPK gunstock swing guard switchblade.
