RPK Russian Prison Knife Vintage all metal switchblade knife. These knives were made by inmates of Russian prisons back in the 1960s and 70s to be sold to raise capital for the prisons. They are all hand made and very unique and beautiful pieces of Russian cutlery Folk Art. This knife measures just under 18cm (7 inches) open with a steel frame and bolster plates with very nice engraving that looks a bit like a wolf, though my first impression of the knife was that it might be a phoenix. The unusually shaped saber grind blade is full and has most of the original finish with no markings. The bottom (back) of the knife has a bottle opener shaped like the head of a bird/dog? The knife works well with the blade tip seating well when closed, smooth snap and good lockup when open with just a little movement. Does not rattle if shaken when open. It is sliding button open, button close. Very cool vintage Russian RPK all metal switchblade. EX condition.
