Vintage Rizzuto Estileto Milano 22cm Japanese swing guard automatic knife made in Japan in the 1960s or 70s. These knives were used in a lot of movies from the 1960s through the 90s and are therefore very popular with switchblade & movie enthusiasts. This is the most common size, but less common white color. These knives were inspired by Italian switchblades of the era and they were very affordable which is probably why they were often used by movie prop departments. This knife measures 22.1cm (8 11/16 inches) open and 4.75 inches closed with steel liners, bolsters & guards and brass button, safety cap & pins. The decorative lanyard ring is nickel silver. The bayonet blade is 99% full or better with original finish with scratches from opening/use and the ricasso is stamped STAINLESS STEEL and it's stamped RIZZUTO ESTILETO MILANO on the face below the spine. The white synthetic scales are in good condition, though not well matched in color with a repair near the bottom front bolster that can be seen in the photographs. The knife works well with the blade tip seating below the liners closed, good snap and average lockup with about 1/8 inch movement at the tip when open. Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works, but is loose. Nice example of a vintage "Italian style" movie prop switchblade. EX- condition.
