Remington R655 Fishtail Horn Pyralin 1940s vintage switchblade knife
Vintage Remington R655 Fishtail Horn Pyralin 1940s vintage switchblade knife made by the George Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1938 and 1943 under contract for Remington Arms Co. The knife measures 4 inches closed and 7 1/8 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and safety. The clip blade is nearly full and shiny and is stamped Remington on the tang and R655 on the backside. The very attractive scales are celluloid, but Remington use the work Pyralin and called this color Horn and they are in great condition with two tiny hairline cracks by the top pins which nearly all of these end up with over time. The knife works Great with the blade tip below liners closed, opens fully and good lockup with about 1/8" up and down at the tip open. Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. EX+ condition.
