Remington R645 Bowtie Fishtail Candystripe Vintage 1940s automatic knife

Vintage Remington R645 Bowtie Fishtail Candystripe automatic knife made by the Geo Schrade Knife Co under contract for Remington in the early 1940s. This knife measures 4 inches closed and just over 7 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters, button and safety. The clip blade is 96% full or better and shiny with no sign of the original etch and the tang is stamped Remington and the back is stamped R655, which is not the correct number for this model. We do not believe that this knife has ever been apart, but simply that they installed the wrong blade at the factory. It happened. The scales (handles) are gorgeous candystripe celluloid and in very nice condition with the usual tiny pin cracks by the top bolsters. The knife works great with blade tip deep and centered closed, strong snap and excellent lockup open! Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. VG+ condition.
