PRESTO Vintage Lazy W folding guards Wormgroove switchblade

Nice old PRESTO Hunter with Lazy W folding guards. This knife was made by the George Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1940 and 1956. It was designated the model number 8000 and measures 5 inches closed and 8.5 inches open with steel liners. The blade is a little short, but otherwise full at approximately 94% and shiny with light scratches. The knife was most likely "tipped" at some point (tip broken off by someone misusing the knife) and reshaped. The blade is marked PRESTO PAT JAN 30-40 MADE IN USA on the front and GEO SCHRADE KNIFE CO INC B'P'T, CONN on the rear. The multi shaded brown scales, often referred to as "brain" with wormgroove pattern are in perfect condition. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well, good snap, guards fly into position, and good lockup with about 1/8 inch up and down at the tip. Safety works.
