This is a PRESTO paratrooper style switchblade made by the Geo Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1929 and 1956. It is the same size and configuration as the M2 paratrooper switchblades used during WWII. It is possible that some of these with metal handles were actually issued during the war, but I haven't found proof of that. The knife measures 4 1/8" closed and 7 1/8" open with steel liners. The blade is stamped PRESTO over MADE IN USA on the front and GEO SCHRADE over BRIDGEPORT, over CONN on the rear. The blade is nearly full with patina, pitting and staining, but you can still see some of the factory finish under the patina. Overall a nice blade. The painted metal scales are missing some paint from use/carry, but no dents. The knife works great with blade tip seating deep, strong snap and very good lockup. Safety works as designed.
