PRESTO M2 style Scout Black metal painted vintage automatic knife
PRESTO M2 style Scout Black metal painted vintage automatic knife
This is a PRESTO paratrooper style switchblade made by the Geo Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1929 and 1956. It is the same size and configuration as the M2 paratrooper switchblades used during WWII. It is possible that some of these with metal handles were actually issued during the war, but I haven't found proof of that. The knife measures 4 1/8" closed and just under 7 inches open with steel liners. The blade is stamped PRESTO over MADE IN USA on the front and GEO SCHRADE over BRIDGEPORT, over CONN on the rear. The blade is mostly full with light patina and light scratches. The painted metal scales are missing some paint from use/carry, but no dents. The blade tip seats deep and strong snap, but does not lock open though you wouldn't know it unless you push on the blade. Safety works as designed. G+ condition.
