Vintage PRESTO M2 Black Worm groove handled switchblade knife made by the George Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1940 and 1954. Might have been late WWII issue, or as late as the Korean Conflict, but most likely US Military issue. The knife measures 4 1/8" closed and 6 13/16" open with steel liners, bolsters and lanyard ring, but nickel silver button and safety. The clip blade is 92% full with original factory finish intact and is stamped PRESTO PAT JAN 30-40 MADE IN USA front and GEO SCHRADE KNIFE CO INC B'P'T CONN rear and is about 1/4" short. The scales are in excellent condition with no cracks or shrinkage and has bail (staple/lanyard ring) to attach a cord. The knife works well with blade tip deep and centered, strong snap and very good lockup with about 1/16" movement at the tip open. Rattles if shaken with blade open. Safety works. VG- condition.
