Nice old PRESTO Hunter with Lazy W folding guards. This knife was made by the George Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1940 and 1956. It was designated the model number 8000 and measures 5 inches closed and 8 3/4 inches open with steel liners, nickel silver bolsters, guards, button and safety. The blade is nearly full at approximately 99% and shiny with scratches. The blade is marked PRESTO PAT JAN 30-40 MADE IN USA on the front and GEO SCHRADE KNIFE CO INC B'P'T, CONN on the rear. The jigged bone scales are in excellent condition, but likely not original to the knife. Jig pattern looks like Schrade Cut Co and the button and safety holes are a bit oversize and rough. The knife works well with the blade tip seating deep in the well, good snap, guards fly into position, and good lockup with very slight up and down at the tip. Does not rattle if shaken when blade is open. Safety works. EX condition.
