Presto hunter switchblade with painted black metal handles made by the Geo Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1929 and 1955. It's the largest model that they offered measuring 5 inches closed and 8 5/8 inches open with steel liners and nickel silver button and safety. Many believe that these knives were issued to troops/paratroopers by the US Government during, or shortly after WWII but I can't say for sure. The blade is mostly full at around 98% with some peppering and a nick in the cutting edge. The tang is stamped PRESTO MADE IN USA and the backside is marked GEO SCHRADE BRIDGEPORT CONN. The painted metal scales are in excellent condition with most of the original paint intact. The knife functions well with the blade sitting deep, opens fully every time and average lockup with about 1/4" movement each way at the tip. Knife does rattle if shaken with blade open, as most of these 70+ year old used switchblades do. Safety works. VG condition.
