PRESTO Fishtail #4000 Tortoise celluloid bolsters vintage automatic knife
PRESTO Fishtail #4000 Tortoise celluloid bolsters vintage automatic knife made by the George Schrade Knife Co of Bridgeport, CT sometime between 1929 and 1940. Knife measures 4 inches closed and 7 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters & safety and steel button. The clip blade is about 92% full and shiny with light scratches and is stamped PRESTO PAT. PEND-G on the tang and G. SCHRADE in an arch over B'PORT, CT on the backside. The Tortoise celluloid scales are very attractive, but have internal cracking near the bottom (back) bolster on the front. Might be able to save the handle with clear glue. Priced accordingly. Works okay with a little peek when closed, opens fully and locks with about 1/8" up an down at the tip. Does not rattle if shaken with blade open. Safety works. G- condition.
