PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO The VICTOR Antique switchblade knife
PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO The VICTOR Antique switchblade knife
This is an antique switchblade made by the Press Button Knife Co a division of the Walden Knife Co of Walden, NY sometime before 1923. This model was called "The VICTOR" and it's the largest model that they made and has folding guards. It's the same size as the more common Invincible model measuring 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 3/8 inches open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters and folding guards. The clip blade is 94% full and about 3/8" short with some scratches and some very light pitting. Overall a nice blade that is marked PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY on the front tang and US PAT 470605 on the rear, though faint. The picked bone scales are very attractive and in excellent condition with one hairline crack at the back (bottom) of the front scale on the edge. The knife works great with blade tip below liners when closed, good snap and locks open with about 1/8" movement each way at the tip. Rattles if shaken with blade open as most of these 100 year old switchblades do. VG condition.
