Press Button Knife Co medium double Tortoise Cell etched STILETTO w/ sword
Antique Press Button Knife Co medium double with tortoise celluloid handles (scales) made in Walden, NY sometime between 1892 and 1923. It was designated the model #102 and measures 3 3/8" closed and 6 13/16 inches with both blades open with brass liners and nickel silver buttons. It is the middle one of three sizes of switchblade doubles made by the company. The blades are both nearly full and shiny with most of the original finish still visible. Both blades are marked PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY and both are stamped US PAT 470605 on the back tangs. The large blade is etched STILETTO with a sword through the word, but lots of light scratches from sharpening make it a little hard to read. This is a cutlery trademark used by the Pacific Hardware Co in the early 1900s. The tortoise celluloid scales are in great condition with no cracks. The knife works great with both blade tips below the liners closed, good snap and great lockup and NO kickback. EX+ condition.
