Press Button Knife Co Medium double Sterling Silver Satyr switchblade. Made by the Press Button Knife Co of Walden, NY sometime between 1892 and 1923 it was designated pattern number 110SS. Measures 3 3/8" closed and 6.7 inches open with nickel silver liners. The blades are mostly full and shiny with main blade stamped PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO NY and the backside stamped PATENT APPLIED FOR. Small blade same front stamp and backside US PAT 470605. This knife was likely made around 1910 based on the blade markings, around the time that they were experimenting with sliding safeties. The scales are Sterling Silver with a SATYR, often called Old Man Winter by collectors and are in beautiful condition. The knife works well with both blade tips below liners closed, open fully and lock open, but both have kickback, or bounceback which means the spring is a little strong so the blades don't have a chance to catch and lock the first time and they bounce back, but both lock up well when in the open position. EX- condition.
