Press Button Knife Co GUARDIAN Antique switchblade knife made in Walden, NY sometime around 1914. This is one of the rarest PBKC knives with the built in (fixed) finger guards in the bolsters. You can still see some of the original GUARDIAN Eagle etch on the blade!! These acid etches were very fragile and most wore of with just a little use, but if you look closely and carefully you can make out parts of the eagle's wings & neck and at least "GUARDIA" in Guardian. This is a RARE etch to find in any condition. Weak tang stamp "PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY" with no patent number on the backside which means it was made after 1912. The knife measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 9/16 inches open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters and button. The clip blade is 96% full, or better and shiny with some light scratches, spotting and deep pitting in some spots. The jigged bone scales are very attractive and in excellent condition with no cracks. The knife works well with blade tip below the liners closed, strong snap and excellent lockup open with just a hint of movement at the tip open. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open. 100+ year old American made switchblade knife! VG condition with some etch! We're including a reproduction of a 1914 catalog featuring the Guardian with this knife. An image from the catalog is also shown here in the listing.
