Press Button Knife Co GUARDIAN Antique switchblade knife made in Walden, NY sometime around 1914. This is one of the rarest PBKC knives with the built in (fixed) finger guards in the bolsters. The blade was originally etched THE GUARDIAN, but the acid etches were very fragile and wore off with use/cleaning. Strong tang stamp "PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY" with no patent number on the backside which means it was made after 1913. The knife measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 1/2" open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters and button. The clip blade is 95% full, or better and shiny with some light scratches. The jigged bone scales are very attractive and in excellent condition with no cracks. The knife works well with blade tip below the liners closed, strong snap and very good lockup open with about 1/16" up and down and a little side to side. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open. 100+ year old American made switchblade knife! EX condition.
