Press Button Knife Co GUARDIAN Antique switchblade knife made in Walden, NY sometime around 1914. This is one of the rarest PBKC knives with the built in (fixed) finger guards. The blade was originally etched THE GUARDIAN, but the acid etches were very fragile and wore off with use/cleaning. Strong tang stamp "PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY" The knife measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 1/2" open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters and button. The clip blade is mostly full at about 94% and shiny with some light spotting. The jigged bone scales are very attractive and in excellent condition with no cracks. The knife works well with blade tip seating deep in the well closed, strong snap if you use your thumbnail to press the button and excellent lockup open with about 1/16" up and down. Barely rattles if shaken with blade open. EX condition 100+ year old American made switchblade knife!
