Press Button Knife Co GUARDIAN Antique switchblade knife made in Walden, NY sometime around 1914. This is one of the rarest PBKC knives with the built in finger guards. The blade was originally etched THE GUARDIAN, but the acid etches were very fragile and wore off with use/cleaning. Strong tang stamp "PRESS BUTTON KNIFE CO WALDEN NY" and some pitting along the edge of the tang on both sides. The knife measures 4 7/8 inches closed and 8 5/8" open with steel liners and nickel silver bolsters and button. The blade is nearly full at about 97% and shiny and looks to have been professionally cleaned. The picked bone scales are very attractive and in excellent condition with no cracks. The knife works well with blade tip seating deep in the well closed, strong snap and excellent lockup open. EX+ condition 100+ year old American made switchblade knife!
