MERLIN (Don Hall) 7 inch Custom Picklock Birds head automatic knife

MERLIN Custom Tortoise Scale release automatic knife made in the 1990s by Don Hall from Mississippi. Don was a talented and beloved maker of custom switchblade knives back in the 90s and early 00s and no two of his knives are alike. Sadly Don passed away in 2015, but his legacy lives on in his unique switchblade knife creations. This knife is a picklock with bird's head bolsters.

The knife measures 3 7/8 inches closed and 7 inches open with brass liners and nickel silver bolsters and steel button. The flat grind blade is full with original finish and says Merlin on the face. The backspring is file worked inside the channel as well as the outside and the button is inside a brass well. The slab scales look like Mastodon, but not sure what the material is, but they are attractive and in nice condition. The knife works well with blade tip deep and centered closed, good snap and tight lockup open. EX+ condition. Button occasionally needs to pushed a little farther than normal, but works well. Merlin's knives are becoming nearly impossible to find so don't let this one get away!
